Library Collections

UIM libraries have collections in print, online and digital formats. The collections cover various subject areas such as Islamic Finance, Human Rights, Waqf Management, and Quranic Studies etc.

Open Collection

This collection contains library materials that can be loaned out from the UIM libraries. The Open Collection consists of general books in various subject areas.

Reference Collection

This collection refers to reference books such encyclopedias, dictionaries, handbooks, pictorial biographies, directories and etc. The reference books are shelved in the reference stacks and cannot be checked out of the libraries.

Electronic Databases

The Library subscribes to major electronic databases in various subject areas. These electronic databases include e-journals, e-books and citation indexes. It can be accessed via the Library Portal 

Red Spots Collection

This collection is located near the Lending Counter or Reference Desk. The Red Spots materials are allowed to be taken out for one day except theses that may only be used in the libraries.

Multimedia Collection

This collection includes audio cassettes, video (VCD, DVD and CD), and VHS.

Periodicals Collection

This collection refers to journals, magazines, bulletins and others periodical materials. These are non-circulating items that cannot be checked out of the libraries.

Newspapers

The newspapers are placed at the light and leisure reading area. Below is the list of newspapers that are available in the libraries:

•             The Star

•             New Straits Times

Dissertations & Theses Collection

A research publication or 'dissertations' completed for a master or doctoral degree (PhD). The print theses and dissertations are available at main library and for reference purpose only.

Periodicals Collection

Periodicals back issues which have been bound; usually a number of issues of a periodical comprising a volume and bound.
